Today bullfighting was banned in Catalunya. It will be effected from the year 2012. I am moved to tears and so so so happy!

Idag sa blev tjurfaktingen i Catalunya forbjuden. Detta beslut galler fran och med 2012. Jag ar rord till tarar…helt underbart!

I want this! It would be perfect for my vacation that is just around the corner. Fill it up with things I’ll buy in Italy. And you know what: its made of recycles cement bags in Bangladesh and its fair trade made so even better.

Helt underbar! Bara vill ha denna resevaska nar jag aker pa semester till Sicilien nu i sommar. Jag kan fylla den med saker som jag ska kopa dar! Sen ar den fair trade made i Bangladesh av gamla cementpasar. Slitstarka som bara den!

I just need to share with you all the wonders of Christian Montenegro from Argentina – one of my favorite illustrators. He has totally found his  own style…looks like sort of mosaic from Pompei but modern somehow, very decorative so maybe a little bit of arabesque in there and the colors are just fantastic. Deep and rich. I bought his book the Creation ( see images below ) way back when i lived in Florence. Its one of my most treasured books…I wish I could have a big poster of  the front page or any of the pages to decorate my living room with. What do you think? Amazing no? Jag bara maste skriva en post om min favorit illustrator Christian Montenegro fran Argentina. Han har helt sittat sin egen stil: det paminner min om mosaiken i Pompei blandat med det dekorativa arabesqua, sa mycket att upptacka pa varje sida! Fargerna ar ocksa helt fantastiska..Jag kopte hans bok the Creation nar jag bodde i Florens och det har nu blivit en av mina mest alskade bocker. Jag onskar jag hade en stor poster av framsiden eller av vilken sida som helst att satta up hemma hos mig. Tycker ni som jag att han ar helt fantastisk sa kolla in hans websida dar det finns sa mycket mer att bli inspirerad utav..

Bhalo works with a fair trade producer in rural Bangladesh called Thanapara Swallows whos women workers hand loom and hand embroider our cotton and silks. Unfortunately our producer has not yet obtained the official organic certification, however we can say that they are in the process of getting certified and working hard to convert the whole village to organic farming. It is a challenge however to convince farmers to switch over, as it requires education and the first few harvests are generally pretty poor, and many of these farmers are struggling to make a living already. Because of this certification issue they have lost a few potential buyers, however we have decided to stick with them while they develop, and prevent workers from losing jobs and becoming even more marginalized.  It definitely helps to have financial assistance from abroad while they set up the process.
