Something about those Brazilians…

and their playfull apartments that just make me awwww. They have a natural talent for mixing old with new, soft with hard surfaces, color and texture that is to me a pleaure for the eye.  And just ideas like using for storage old plastic fruit and veggie boxes and put them in a 60’s inspired shelf furniture…so like it!I can imagine the room getting filled with beautfull people, a mojito in their hand dancing softly the rythms of samba. More of the very interesting  historical background of this modern Brazilian design concept and photos ( yeah! ) is here.

A little eco-friendly cottage by the Baltic sea…

the Palvas, both Finnish architects. Their 150-square-foot cottage on the west side of Helsinki, near the Baltic shore, a 10-minute bike ride from their three-bedroom apartment is a pure eco-friendly gem. It cost around $42,000 to build or in euros about 30.000.  I so oh so want one too! I mean its in the middle of the forrest, you can see a peak of the ocean, you have marimekko print details, little led lights, basically glas walls, hidden spaces everywhere for smart storage, smart bedding and living during the day, cosy smart flooring with heating and on and on i could go. Yummi!

Kuba cloth

I have this beutifull KUBA CLOTH in my home – tucked away somewhere since i dont seem to find a place for it out in the open. It’s a shame. Kuba cloth is stunning handkraft made in CONGO by the Kuba people. Its an ancient craft – maybe the oldest in Africa. My  lovely piece I got when working in Florence for a bag company. We wanted to make bags with these fabrics but production wise it was just not possible. And at the end I am glad it turned out that way.

Somehow the fast fashion industry does not match with well handkrafted art unless you make fashion into and art and that now a days we rarely see.

Have a lovely weekend you all !

Print your own fabrics!

Pinning hecticly over at Pinterest I happened to stumble over Spoonflower. Basically 4 amazing people having one amazing idea and making it come true: design and print your own fabric and have it delivered to your home in 2 weeks, no minimums asked  There is  different qualities to choose from – many of them are ecological – and you can browse through the library of prior clients who has had their own print be immortal on fabric and maybe choose something from there if you aren’t yourself feeling very creative. I who am in the fashion and textile industry feels it is a marvellous thing what they have accomplished and they do make many dreams come true in the hand craft community. Below are some of my favorites but there are so many more!

One eye shut

I cant open one eye. My back hurts. My throat. I think Im coming down with something. But it’s spring and I can feel it! Want to throw away my shoes and jacket, put on some sandals and a dress and go walking by the beach…or rather just lay down on the beach and sleep. I bough a trensh yesterday on Etsy. I have been looking at it for months…fantastic cut! Need to buy some carrot cream to prepare the skin for the sun – I adore the packaging, and also some eco products from the home.  Want to redo our living room to a fun playground for all and I am also considering buying tons of plants and just randomly place them, effortlessly by the window and dont make so much fuss about it.
