HESS NATUR – design for life

When going through HESS NATUR web shop I read the following about ‘who they are’:

We are not a not-for-profit organization, though we work closely with excellent ones every day.

We are in business to make money. It’s how we choose to make it that matters to us and, hopefully, to you too.

Ah so refreshing to read. And the more you read the more you want to take the next plane to Germany and start working for them:

- all cottons are ecological

- they are working with farmers to develop and offer all natural fibers ecologically produced

- clothing lines for the whole family: mens wear, womens wear, kids and babywear that you can buy on line

AFROART – fairtrade

Rorke’s Drift was / is not only a famous battle which I won’t discuss here, but also an art school in Southafrica in the 60’s – 70’s with mainly swedish art teachers. The objects that were created soon became a huge success and soon Afroart was open back in 1967 in Stockholm throught the initiative by Jytte Bonnier.

Now run by 6 textile designers and huge fans of handkrafts from all over the world – the idea of the store continues  to show and sell handkrafts from all over the world, to help people in the 3rd world through fairtrade and to when possible use ecological and sustainable materials.

I personally visited the Afroart store last time I was home and I could have bought so many things!!! The colours are fantastic and also the materials – and there is a soul in each of the objects that only something made by the human hand can have.

Please visit the store on line – you will be amazed!
