Ecological cardboard furniture nr 2

Australien company BELKIZ has launched their first baby feeding chair for ‘parents on the go’ made out of cardboard.

Being a parent it sounds a bit crazy but look at these following facts about the feedaway:

- 100% recycable and made out of 100% recycable material too

- lightweight

- Belkiz has received INPAA  (Infant and Nursery Products Association of Australia) accreditation by “Baby Safety”, for full filling their requirements and quality standards

- from 6 – 20 kg and can be used up to 30 days at 6 feeds a day.

- A non-toxic food coating is used so that Feedaway can be cleaned after each meal

- it can be customized since its all made out of cardboard

Check out photos below – I think its pretty cool and it looks sturdy and fun!

HUDSON FURNITURE NEW YORK

I find it very hard to find ecological furniture unless of course you go for second hand or antiques, which has its own problems – either difficult to find in good condition or very expensive.

At least that is the current situation where I live so what to do?

If I lived in NEW YORK I would go and get inspired at HUDSON FURNITURE. None of the woods are harvested from old growth forests. The wood they use are domestically sourced from either salvages trees or wind / storm damages trees. As Barlas Baylar, Hudson Furniture’s founder and designer puts it: ” We put high regard and value on these trees by turning them into pieces of enduring art instead of leaving them out to decay “.
I find them excuisit…almost perfection it self. The design is half nature half man made -  I love the clean organic lines and the mix between warmness of wood and the cold metals. The workman ship is excuisit. I wouldn’t dare asking the price of one of these rare items though – I prefer dreaming them up in my home.
